Su trabajo emplea la teor\u00eda de percolaci\u00f3n \u2500una rama de la F\u00edsica estad\u00edstica que estudia c\u00f3mo se conectan los sistemas\u2500, para predecir tanto la formaci\u00f3n de estados ex\u00f3ticos de la materia, como la propagaci\u00f3n de enfermedades en los cultivos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los investigadores BUAP, Jhony Eredi Ram\u00edrez, Arturo Fern\u00e1ndez T\u00e9llez, Ygnacio Mart\u00ednez Laguna, Jes\u00fas Francisco L\u00f3pez Olgu\u00edn y Agust\u00edn Arag\u00f3n Garc\u00eda, demostraron que una plantaci\u00f3n se comporta de forma id\u00e9ntica a un sistema f\u00edsico poroso.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>La F\u00edsica como escudo natural en la agricultura <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Con un enfoque agroecol\u00f3gico, los investigadores publicaron un estudio revolucionario sobre el manejo agroecol\u00f3gico de Phytophthora, conocido como el &#8220;destructor de plantas&#8221;, un pat\u00f3geno que causa p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas masivas a nivel mundial y que se propaga a trav\u00e9s de esporas que &#8220;nadan&#8221; en la humedad del suelo hacia las ra\u00edces. En Puebla, se reporta que Phytophthora ataca a diversas plantaciones causando p\u00e9rdidas millonarias a productores de papa, chile y aguacate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al organizar los cultivos en configuraciones de intercalado (intercropping), como columnas o diagonales alternas (estilo ajedrez), es posible crear &#8220;barreras naturales&#8221;. El estudio determin\u00f3 que la configuraci\u00f3n de diagonales alternas es la m\u00e1s efectiva para evitar que la enfermedad se extienda por todo el campo, permitiendo a los agricultores proteger sus cosechas sin depender de fungicidas qu\u00edmicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para 2022 su enfoque se traslad\u00f3 de los campos de cultivo al coraz\u00f3n de los aceleradores de part\u00edculas m\u00e1s potentes del mundo, como el LHC en Suiza y el RHIC en Estados Unidos. Los cient\u00edficos investigaron el Plasma de Quarks y Gluones (QGP), un estado de la materia donde los componentes m\u00e1s b\u00e1sicos de los \u00e1tomos se liberan, similar a una &#8220;sopa primigenia&#8221; caliente que existi\u00f3 en el origen del universo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aplicando la misma teor\u00eda de percolaci\u00f3n, los f\u00edsicos de la BUAP descubrieron que la temperatura necesaria para formar este plasma no es constante, sino que depende del tama\u00f1o de los n\u00facleos que chocan. Un hallazgo sorprendente es que las colisiones entre part\u00edculas peque\u00f1as (como protones) requieren energ\u00edas 20 veces mayores que las colisiones entre n\u00facleos grandes (como el plomo) para liberar a los quarks de su confinamiento. Este descubrimiento ayuda a entender por qu\u00e9 los experimentos observan comportamientos colectivos incluso en sistemas que antes se consideraban &#8220;demasiado peque\u00f1os&#8221; para formar este plasma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Entrop\u00eda y el &#8220;calor&#8221; de las colisiones<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fue a principios de 2024 cuando la investigaci\u00f3n avanz\u00f3 hacia la comprensi\u00f3n de la entrop\u00eda y la capacidad calor\u00edfica de estos sistemas extremos. Al analizar datos de colisiones a energ\u00edas que van desde los 0.2 hasta los 13 billones de electronvoltios (TeV), el equipo encontr\u00f3 que el sistema no se comporta como un gas simple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A diferencia de un gas ideal, la capacidad calor\u00edfica del sistema de part\u00edculas aumenta a medida que sube la energ\u00eda de colisi\u00f3n, lo que indica que el sistema adquiere &#8220;nuevos grados de libertad&#8221; o formas de almacenar energ\u00eda. Este fen\u00f3meno es comparable a calentar un objeto que, al llegar a cierta temperatura, comienza a absorber calor no s\u00f3lo para aumentar su velocidad, sino para transformar su estructura interna.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Una estrategia integral para la seguridad alimentaria<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La culminaci\u00f3n de este esfuerzo se presenta en abril de 2025, con una visi\u00f3n integral que une la f\u00edsica de redes complejas con la protecci\u00f3n de cultivos frente a nuevas amenazas, como la ara\u00f1ita roja (Tetranychus urticae). Este \u00e1caro, al igual que los pat\u00f3genos previos, se desplaza entre plantas adyacentes a trav\u00e9s del contacto entre hojas. Los cient\u00edficos han concluido que la mejor estrategia agroecol\u00f3gica es el dise\u00f1o de policultivos, inspirados en sistemas ancestrales como la milpa mexicana. Estos sistemas no s\u00f3lo detienen las plagas al romper la continuidad de las plantas susceptibles, sino que aumentan el rendimiento neto de la tierra al fomentar interacciones beneficiosas entre especies. Seg\u00fan el estudio, incluso en suelos con alta presencia inicial de pat\u00f3genos, elegir el par de plantas adecuado bas\u00e1ndose en su &#8220;susceptibilidad&#8221; \u2014la probabilidad de enfermar tras la exposici\u00f3n\u2014 permite mantener una producci\u00f3n saludable y sostenible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n demuestra que la ciencia no tiene fronteras r\u00edgidas. El mismo modelo matem\u00e1tico que explica qu\u00e9 sucede en el centro de una estrella de neutrones o en un colisionador de part\u00edculas est\u00e1 siendo utilizado para dise\u00f1ar las granjas del futuro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta colaboraci\u00f3n entre f\u00edsicos de part\u00edculas de la Facultad de Ciencias F\u00edsico Matem\u00e1ticas y expertos del Centro de Agroecolog\u00eda de la BUAP marca un hito en la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones basadas en la naturaleza para los desaf\u00edos globales del siglo XXI.
